Six out of ten State Labour Inspection Office inspections revealed breaches. And fines have already exceeded 304 million CZK.

In the first six months of 2026, the State Labour Inspection Office carried out 9,822 inspections.

Most of these focused on:

• Health and safety at work and technical equipment – 4,035 inspections

• Illegal employment – 3,604 inspections

• employment relations – 1,835 inspections

• other areas of employment – 348 inspections

And the result? In just under 60 percent of completed inspections, inspectors found breaches of the law. In total, they recorded 16,797 shortcomings, more than half of which were in the area of health and safety at work.

Other figures are also striking: 1,408 illegally employed persons were identified, and during 229 inspections into disguised employment agency activities, 192 entities were found to be acting as disguised employment agencies.

The Inspectorate has already imposed 2,681 fines totalling more than 304 million CZK this year. In the whole of 2025, fines totalled approximately 454 million CZK.

What can we expect by the end of the year?

The State Labour Inspection Office plans to continue focusing primarily on inspections of illegal work, disguised employment, remuneration and equal pay, working hours, the employment of foreign nationals, CCTV systems and health and safety at work.

The pace of inspections is relatively high this year. If the inspections continue at the same rate as in the first half of the year, the State Labour Inspection Office could carry out around 19,600 inspections for the whole year. In comparable key areas of inspection, this would be approximately 1,100 more inspections, or 6 percent more than in 2025.

The difference is even more pronounced when it comes to fines. In the first six months alone, the total amount of fines has already exceeded 304 million CZK, whilst for the whole of 2025 it was just under 454 million CZK. If this rate were to continue, 2026 would end with fines exceeding 600 million CZK. However, this is, of course, merely a simple calculation and an assumption, not a forecast by the State Labour Inspection Office.
